How exciting, I'm finally starting a blog!!

I've been collecting up resources from multiple areas, but am happy to finally have a blog to share creative ideas and document my journey to my teaching career!

I am currently student teaching and graduating in May! Read more about my college journey in my About Me section!

Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated for how to create a successful blog and build up a PLN. I recently started a Twitter (@MissUnderwood2) and have been joining in on #edchat and #mathchat conversations. I love any form of social media, and I truly believe that it can be beneficial to education if used correctly!

My student teaching placement is with 7th Grade Special Education. I work with inclusion math and language arts, and teach two periods of Special Education math in the afternoon. Our main focus the past few weeks has been area, perimeter, circumference and surface area. (We are currently working on the Tin Man surface area project which I will be blogging about at the end of this week)

I saw the idea  on Pinterest of how to show surface area formula of spheres using an orange. I decided to play around with this and make a tutorial video which can be used by teachers to understand how the procedure works. The video was also made with classroom discussion in mind. I did not give away any answers, but did pose questions for a classroom to discuss or for students to think about. Like I said, this is my FIRST attempt, so I'm hoping to get some feedback! Although I also know this is my first blogpost, so I'll be working to get this out to the public! Comment with any ideas or suggestions with how you got your blog up and running!
